Sustainability Statement

This statement reflects our commitment to integrate sustainability into all aspects and phases of our operations, converting robust sustainability performance into Calibre’s business edge.  Through our approach to sustainability, we incorporate environmental, social and governance considerations into all decision making.  In implementing our Sustainability Strategy, our goal is to meet the needs of the present without compromising the future, in line with Calibre’s vision of delivering value, responsibly, for all stakeholders.

We listen to and engage with stakeholders

In a transparent, inclusive and culturally appropriate manner, and implement systems to ensure we understand and address their concerns, and integrate this knowledge into our business planning and decision making.

And to avoid, minimize, mitigate or compensate for our negative impacts on communities and the environment.

We promote a culture of sustainability

We promote sustainability throughout our workforce and value chain, guide our performance on leading practices and review our results to ensure long-term improvement to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Periodic, detailed and transparent disclosure

We ensure periodic, detailed and transparent disclosure about our sustainability performance to build confidence and trust.

Environmental Commitment

All environmental incidents are unacceptable, and we must respect and protect the land for future generations. Our focus with respect to the environment and biodiversity is to manage the key risks associated with our operations in a coherent and effective manner. The protection of water sources is one of our greatest interests. In and around our areas of operation, we use modern engineering to establish safe controls, monitoring and filtration systems to ensure that water sources are protected and sustained. Calibre adheres to its "Environmental Policy" and "Environmental Performance Standard" at our tailings storage facilities, ensuring that safe and regulated processes are in place. We carry out consistent monitoring and reclamation activities in previously operated areas to ensure biodiversity, environmental rehabilitation and sustainability.

Health & Safety

Safety is a core value for Calibre. Every employee, contractor and member of the public has the right to work in a safe and healthy environment and to return home healthy everyday. We have developed protocols and procedures so that, together with our employees, we ensure a safe and healthy workplace. Protocols and procedures are regularly reviewed and improved to ensure the highest levels of information awareness and engagement are integrated into our workplaces. Our safety policy, protocols, and procedures apply to all Calibre employees, including contractors, suppliers, and visitors who provide services to the mines. Compliance with all established preventative and safety measures is mandatory.

Social Responsibility

We are committed to a social license with beneficial outcomes for the communities in which we operate. We are governed by our Social Policy and our Social Performance Standards, which call for respectful and open engagement with all stakeholders. Our policy and standard steer us towards making positive and sustainable contributions to our host communities. As a modern mining company, we acknowledge that our role in terms of social responsibility covers all aspects of our activities, including health and safety and environmental and social concerns from a rights-based approach. It also covers all stages of mining, from exploration to closure and reclamation. Human Rights, Indigenous Peoples, Community Engagement and Development, and co-existence with Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM) activities are vital for Calibre’s sustainable and responsible mining approach.

Governance

Integrity guides our actions every day. The Company has developed a Code of Business Conduct and Ethics to provide guidance for ethical behavior with which all Calibre workers, suppliers, and contractors are expected to conduct themselves in dealing with all stakeholders. The Code has been adopted by our Board of Directors to summarize the standards of business conduct that must guide our actions so we act with integrity and ensure that the company complies with the laws and regulations required of a public company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The following policies state our aspirations and commitments across the business:

  • Whistleblower Policy
  • Disclosure Policy
  • Insider Trading Policy
  • Diversity Policy
  • Advance Notice Policy
  • Majority Voting Policy
  • Share Ownership and Clawback Policy

Complementary to that, the bedrock of our business model is a set of policies related to sustainability supported by systems and standards, procedures and guidelines, metrics, and targets to drive performance and transparent reporting on process for all Calibre employees and business partners:

  • People Management Principles
  • Health & Safety Policies
  • Environmental and Social Policies
  • Performance Standards

Our policies and standards align substantially with the principles of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

Calibre is a member of the World Gold Council (“WGC”) and complies with the WGC’s Responsible Gold Mining Principles. Calibre is also a member of the Mining Association of Canada ("MAC").

Social Responsibility

By thinking and acting like owners, we will deliver value responsibly to all stakeholders
