Executive Management

Darren Hall has over 35 years of experience in the mining industry with a track record of increasing production, reducing costs, improving capital effectiveness, and promoting health, safety and business excellence. Mr.Hall has previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Kirkland Lake Gold, which acquired Newmarket Gold, where he also served as the Chief Operating Officer. Prior to Newmarket Gold, Mr.Hall worked for Newmont Mining Corporation where he held roles of increasing responsibility throughout the organization for almost 30 years. Mr.Hall graduated with a Bachelor of Mining Engineering (Hons) from the Western Australia School of Mines in Kalgoorlie.

Daniella Dimitrov has over 20 years of experience in mining and capital markets. Prior to joining Calibre, she served as the CFO of IAMGOLD Corporation and, for a period, also as President and Interim CEO. Ms. Dimitrov's previous roles include Partner, Investment Banking, with Sprott Capital Partners, CEO and, prior to this, CFO of Orvana Minerals, Executive Vice Chair of Baffinland Iron and Chief Operating Officer of Dundee Securities. Ms. Dimitrov has also held various corporate development positions in mining and financial services. Furthermore, Ms. Dimitrov brings extensive governance experience, spanning more than 15 years, including with the Canadian Securities Administrators, Ontario's Mining Advisory group and several mining companies. Ms. Dimitrov holds a Global Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and Schulich School of Business, a law degree from the University of Windsor, is National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Directorship Certified^TM and holds the Global Competent Boards Designation and Certification in Sustainability & ESG (GCB.D). Ms. Dimitrov was previously chosen as one of the Top 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining.

David Schummer has over 35 years of mining industry experience working in the U.S., Canada, Peru, Indonesia, West Africa and the Middle East. Mr. Schummer is a proven executive leader of large-scale mining companies focused on building a strong health and safety culture and value creation through mining efficiencies. David has seen significantly increasing levels of responsibility throughout his career. Prior to joining Calibre as COO, David was the COO for Perseus Mining, and prior to that he was the President of Ma'aden Gold and Base Metals. David previously held the role of Executive Vice President & COO at Newgold mining and also spent 22 years at Newmont Mining Corporation. While at Newmont, Mr. Schummer progressively moved into more senior roles, ultimately becoming the Senior Vice President, Africa. Prior to his time in Africa, Mr. Schummer was Newmont's Vice President of North American operations where he also led a group of eight operating mines, including both open pit and underground operations. Mr. Schummer holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Finance from Regis University in the United States. 

Tom Gallo has over 10 years of experience in the mining industry as a Project Geologist and Research Analyst. Prior to joining the Calibre team, Mr.Gallo was Vice President Equity Research at Canaccord Genuity, where he covered a variety of small cap mining companies in the precious metal sector.  In 2020 Mr.Gallo was ranked in the top five Canadian equity analysts by TipRanks Market Research. Prior to becoming a top ranked mining analyst, he worked with what was then known as St. Andrews Goldfields (now Agnico Eagle Mining), where Mr.Gallo held various roles in the geology group, focused primarily on the Holt/Holloway mines. He and his team were responsible for the delineation of over 1Moz of gold resources in all categories. Mr.Gallo holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario.

Ryan King has over 15 years of experience in increasingly senior capacities in capital markets in the resource sector. Mr.King was previously responsible for leading the investor relations activities for Newmarket Gold, as the company completed a $2 billion transformational merger with Kirkland Lake Gold. Before joining Newmarket Gold, he was involved in starting Terrane Metals which owned the Mount Milligan Copper-Gold Project in British Columbia, Canada. From 2006 to 2010, Mr.King was involved in financing, corporate development, and investor relations for Terrane Metals as well as assisting with the acquisition of Terrane Metals in 2010 by Thompson Creek for $800 million. He brings an established approach to business in the natural resource sector, with specific and targeted applications for delivering shareholder value in the mining industry. During his career, he has assisted in raising $350 million for previous companies. Mr.King holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Royal Roads University in British Columbia, Canada. He currently sits on the Board of Newcore Gold and Edgewater Exploration Ltd.

Petri Salopera has been with Calibre since June 2021. He has over 20 years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams in the different fields of sustainability, including environment and permitting, community engagement and development, and ESG governance. Over the years he has held senior executive positions in major mining companies such as BHP, Rio Tinto, Goldcorp and Newcrest. His wide range of expertise also includes other private sector entities, academia, and non-governmental organizations.

Mr. Salopera has obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Humanities from the University of Helsinki, Finland. He has also received professional certificates on Community Relations from the Sustainable Minerals Institute, University of Queensland, Australia, and on Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the United States of America.
