Minnesota Trench 2014

Minnesota Gold Project
Updated Compilation 2015

The Minnesota gold project is located 16 kilometres northwest of the Primavera gold-copper and 7 km north of the town of Rosita. The Minnesota project was selected as a high priority target area prospective for intrusion-related, porphyry and skarn style mineralized systems during a regional evaluation of the Calibre-B2 JV concessions.

The project is subject to the Calibre and B2Gold joint venture agreement which gives B2Gold the right to acquire an additional 19% interest (70.0% total) by spending $6.0 million on exploration on the Calibre-B2 JV concessions over 3 years. B2Gold currently controls a 51% share of the project and is acting as the operator.

Exploration work completed to date at Minnesota includes; 25.5 line kilometres of soil sampling (586 samples), 1,004 rock samples, 560.15 metres of trench-channel sampling, detailed geologic mapping over 15 square kilometres, and reconnaissance geologic mapping over 52 square kilometres. Highlights from the recent trench-channel sampling include: 9.2 metres grading 4.17 g/t Au, 14.80 metres grading 1.85 g/t Au and 8.50 metres grading 1.22 g/t Au and 109.6 metres grading 1.58 g/t Au.

Past and recent work has been successful in outlining intrusion-related alteration and mineralization over a 3.0 kilometre x 1.25 kilometre area. The trend is also moderately to strongly anomalous in Mo, Pb and Zn. The target is made up of favourable multi-phase intrusive rocks with peripheral epithermal vein sets and widespread sericitic, argillic and propylitic alteration. Numerous small-scale artisanal gold miners are active in the Minnesota region.

The 2014 reconnaissance diamond drilling program at the Minnesota gold project consisted of seven widely spaced drill holes totaling 992 metres which tested three areas along the three kilometre trend of the Minnesota target. Drilling results include: 31.35 metres grading 0.63 g/t Au (including 12.40 metres grading 1.07 g/t Au) and 47.00 metres grading 0.63 g/t Au and 3,703 ppm Zn (including 4.50 metres grading 3.43 g/t Au and 5,699 ppm Zn).

Trenching and rock grid sampling is ongoing on the property with the twin goals of identifying the controls on mineralization along the anomalous gold trends and delineating drill targets in the near future.
