PROJECTS

Bambana Project

Exploration success at Bambana
During the 2009/2010 season, Calibre advanced the gold-copper Bambana project, northeast Nicaragua, to the diamond drill stage to test for potential gold-copper skarn mineralization. The Bambana project is located approximately four kilometres northwest of the town of Rosita and the past producing Santa Rita copper mine, a copper skarn deposit that is estimated to have produced 305 million pounds of copper over the life of the mine*.

Drill testing of 500 metre by 300 metre anomalous area
Calibre completed a 37 line-km soil survey and outlined several target areas that are anomalous in gold and copper. Calibre will drill test the potential skarn mineralization at one of the main targets -- a 500 metre by 300 metre area that carried anomalous gold and copper in soils and overlies coincident chargeability and magnetic geophysical anomalies. Drilling will test an area associated with artisanal gold workings and a small prospecting pit. Calibre's channel sampling of the prospecting pit returned the following grades over 0.9 metres:
  • 1.64 g/t gold
  • 1,645 g/t silver
  • 29.9% copper
* Historical production from (Arengi 2002).
